FIESTAS DEL PILAR
Fiestas del Pilar, the great autumn festival, is the end of the festival season in Spain. During these days, modernity combines with tradition to bring the city of Zaragoza into the limelight!

Everything begins at the Plaza del Pilar, the heart of the celebrations. Locals and visitors alike dress in traditional costumes and gather for one of the most emotional moments of the festival: the Ofrenda de Flores, where thousands offer flowers to the Virgin of the Pillar, creating a breathtaking floral pyramid. The whole city joins in and the atmosphere is spectacular!
And that’s only the beginning - the entire Casco Viejo (Old Town) comes alive with concerts, theater performances, street parades, puppets, dance shows, and more. During the Rosario de Cristal, stunning illuminated glass lanterns light up the streets in a magical night procession.
You’ll also see the famous Gigantes y Cabezudos giant paper-mâché figures that dance through the city every day, amusing kids and adults alike.
Of course, there’s no festival without food - pop-up food stands offer local Aragonese specialties! You can enjoy a churro with chocolate while exploring everything Zaragoza has to offer.
And to wrap it all up, don’t miss the spectacular fireworks lighting up the skies above the Basilica and the Ebro river, the perfect ending to this unforgettable celebration!
Come live the Fiestas del Pilar in true Happy Erasmus style full of fun, friends, and fantastic memories!
